Bob Probert’s daughters talk about their dad, his Red Wings career, and his health issues.
Probie was one of the most popular Red Wings in franchise history, known for his brutal on-ice fights with opposing players and his skill as a hockey player.
Probert was best known for his activities as a fighter and
enforcer. He was also one half of the "Bruise Brothers" with then-Red Wing teammate Joey Kocur during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He spent 16 years in the NHL and another 7+ years in the minors.
Off the ice, he battled concussions, addictions, and mental health issues and was one of the first diagnosed with CTE.
He died in 2010 at just 45 years old of a heart attack on July 5, 2010, during a severe heat wave while boating on
Lake St. Clair with his children.
