EAST LANSING, Mich. -- No. 17 Michigan State men's tennis hits the road for its first road trip of the season, heading to Fort Worth, Texas, for an exciting slate of matches at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Spartans are set to take on Liberty on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. ET / 10 a.m. CT. MSU will then take on either No. 2-ranked TCU or Pacific on Sunday, Jan. 26, based on Saturday's results.

This road trip presents a great opportunity for the Spartans to test their skills on the road against high-caliber competition and continue building momentum for the season ahead.

The Spartans had a victorious start to the spring season. MSU opened the season with a 3-0 start, starting off with a historic win against No. 7 Kentucky in front of the biggest crowd ever in the MSU Indoor Tennis Center.

Before the team heads out on their road trip, ITA dropped the updated team ranking after the first week of play. The Spartans make the biggest jump in the ITA Rankings, moving up six spots to No. 17.

The Big Ten Conference announced its weekly accolades on Wednesday, with redshirt sophomore Aristotelis Thanos earning the first Player of the Week award of his collegiate career.

The Spartans' weekend will be capped with matches against either TCU or Pacific. Facing TCU, the No. 2 team in the nation, would be the highlight of the trip, offering a chance to go head-to-head with one of the strongest programs in collegiate tennis on their home courts. Meanwhile, the contest against Pacific would provide another opportunity to showcase their depth and resilience as they adapt to back-to-back challenges.

This trip marks an important milestone for the Spartans, as they embark on their first test away from home this spring. With a mix of experienced players and rising stars, the team is eager to make its mark and gain valuable experience against top-tier competition.
