In June the ballot will be released for the December 2023 announcement of the release of next year's class. It's officially the off-season. Between now and June I expect CMD will be entered by MSU.

  • A coach becomes eligible three full seasons after retirement or immediately following retirement provided he is at least 70 years of age. Active coaches become eligible at 75 years of age. He must have been a head football coach for a minimum of 10 years and coached at least 100 games with a .600 winning percentage.
  • Nominations may only be submitted by the current athletics director, head coach, or sports information director (SID) of a potential candidate's collegiate institution. Nominations may also be submitted by the president/executive director of a dues-paying chapter of the National Football Foundation.
  • There are 17 at-large Selectors, who are active members of the media or persons intricately involved in professional football, including one representative of the Pro Football Writers of America. All appointments are open-ended and approved annually by a majority vote of the Hall of Fame's Board of Trustees.
Coach Tucker and Coach Izzo were asked recently and stated they believed that CMD deserves a place in the Hall of Fame. I agree with them. According to the above, he qualifies for the first time this coming year.

The only answer for the Michigan State brand is to support the coach for the Hall. The list of accomplishments is long in a short period of time.
