I had a chance to do a bit of a deep dive into the offensive line depth chart. Here is my summary:
If I distill this analysis down, one interesting detail is that the o-line did a pretty good job with pass protection last year. The MSU quarterbacks only were sacked 1.5 times per game, which was in the top 25, I think, nationally. That seems like a good sign for the new QB (whoever that will be) in the fall.
Run blocking was another story, and MSU was specifically weak at the tackle position (based on PFF grades... such as they are). Barring injuries, the middle of the line should be rock solid at the center and guard position. BUT, the tackle position will be key. Did Baldwin and/or Brown take a step in the off-season? If not, can Blackstock and/or Boyd rise to the occasion? That is the key question on the o-line going into the season.
