MSU hasn't had a relationship with Vaughn previously, but Vaughn's high school team, Memphis Whitehaven, is making a bus tour through the midwest and stopped in at Michigan State today. Their team did not participate in the 7-on-7 camp at MSU.
The Whitehaven bus stopped at Notre Dame this morning, where the Irish offered a scholarship to Vaugh, who is ranked the No. 18 safety in the country by Rivals.com and No. 250 overall. Some are recruiting him as a big cornerback.
The Whitehaven bus will pull into Ann Arbor in a couple of hours.
Whitehaven's head coach is Rodney Saulsberry, who was a walk-on football player at the University of Michigan in the early '90s. He told me he has not been back to Ann Arbor since 1992 and is looking forward to the visit.
Rodney has a relationship with Curtis Blackwell and was invited to stop by as part of the trip. Rodney said MSU hasn't been involved with Vaughn to this point, but he suspects that after MSU speaks with him and watches film that MSU might become the latest to offer.
