I hadn't been back to SS since the grand opening of the scoreboards in '12. Here's what I noticed:
1. The ramp/walkways up to the upper deck, at least on the East side, were all nicely painted and floored. It looked brand new on the surface. I saw paint marks on the railing as though it had just finished like a week or two ago. It appears there is a lot of new paint under the concourse areas all over, too, no?
2. The bathrooms in the North End Zone were nice. Utilitarian but nice..I chose to hold it and go in there at the end of the game (well after, actually)
3. The Sound system was VERY much more well-tuned than in '12. The bass was thumping and the sound of music etc was very good. My heart got pumpin' pretty well.
4. The Scoreboards still are amazing and replays are a joy to have, even if they don't show controversial stuff
5. The North End Zone addition is really tough to even notice from the concourse. It is pretty well "sealed off" from the general public under the stands, but it looks really nice from the outside and that whole end just looks perfect and complete now.
6. The one thing I have to say, though, is that with all that addition done and as nice as it is, I wonder if the Athletic dept. isn't getting just a bit too "dedication happy" with all the names splattered all over every little nook and cranny and courtyard around the North End, especially. I know it's an honor for a lot of people and am grateful for all of the generosity, but geez there is a name (and most often a complete couple's name) posted up about everything! Am I the only one that is wondering if this is all a bit "much" and kind of takes away from the nice clean lines of the complex?
