Early in his tenure at MSU, it seemed as if coach D really preferred the thunder and lightning combinations at RB. Caulcrick and Ringer(although they were inherited). Bell and Baker. Langford was a guy who was a bit of a combination of both, but surely had the speed to take it to the house.
Our top 4 RBs this year seem to be more of the bruiser, big back types. I had thought London was going to be more of a speed type of back, but we all remember him being caught from behind in the Spring game.
I love both styles of RB. I just find it interesting that there really doesn't appear to be a "lightning" candidate to complement the four power backs.
It makes me wonder if Shelton's use as a jet sweep, read option, etc. type role will be expanded this year?
Thoughts?
