ASU freshman George Lea suspended for season after BB gun incident

George Lea has been suspended for the entire 2015 stemming from a June arrest in a campus BB gun incident.
Lea, a defensive tackle, was charged with one misdemeanor count of threatening/intimidating to cause injury and one misdemeanor count of assault with the intent to cause fear of physical injury.
According to ASU police, Lea walked into the apartment of a teammate and pointed a towel-wrapped BB gun at a teammate and said, "I heard this is where all the money is at."
Lea told police he made it clear he was holding a BB gun, but the teammate told police he feared for his life. Lea was suspended from all team activities in July.
"Our deal is if you violate rules, there's going to be accountability," coach Todd Graham said. "He'll have a plan of improvement and he has a lot of things with that. We felt like the young man deserved a second chance, but that's a pretty harsh punishment."
Lea was an early enrollee who participated in spring practice. During those practices, Graham had remarked that Lea had a chance of playing as a true freshman.
