Great weather for the MSU 7-on-7 camp today. Temps creeping up toward 80. Got some humidity. Perfect for the high school coaches that want to get some conditioning in for their players today.
I was watching Perry High and Luke Farrell a few minutes ago vs Lowell. They don't keep score in these games. They try to reduce winning/losing pressure because coaches would rather work on concepts and routes and do some teaching rather than worry about who comes home with what record. I've watched Brother Rice lose a lot of games out here every June and then go out and clean house every fall as usual. Same with Lowell. Of course, 7-on-7 passing game is not the way Lowell and Rice usually go about business on offense (although Rice has been changing).
Anyway, Farrell looks like you would expect him to look. He's a horse. He's somewhat smooth, nicely fast and quick, and combative. You can see why everyone wants him. It's not like he is a manchild out here like Kellen Freeman-Davis was at the same stage, but you can see the core talent, the high ceiling. No surprise that MSU and OSU like him. Mark Dantonio and Jim Bollman are on the sideline, watching closely, and hobnobbing with the Perry people.
