EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling returns to Jenison Field House this weekend for a pair of ranked B1G duals, first taking on No. 24-ranked Indiana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24 before facing No. 7-ranked Nebraska at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26. Both duals will stream on B1G+.
Friday night's dual will be preceded by a clash between two of the best high schools in the state, the No. 1-ranked Lowell Red Arrows (D2) and the No. 1-ranked Dundee Vikings (D3) at 4:30 p.m. in Jenison. Doors will open for the night at 3:30 p.m. and will remain open until the MSU-Indiana dual. On Sunday, Michigan State wrestling will recognize some of the top girls' wrestlers in the state at intermission of its dual against the Cornhuskers.
The Spartans enter the weekend 3-3 overall and 0-2 in B1G duals, coming off a 25-13 victory over Buffalo last Sunday. MSU trailed Buffalo 13-3 at intermission, but bounced back to earn five bouts, including four by bonus points, after the break. Remy Cotton picked up a pin at 197, Max Vanadia earned a tech fall at heavyweight. Andy Hampton and Jaden Crumpler closed the dual with major decisions at 133 and 141.
The First Whistle
MSU is 52-27-3 all-time against the Hoosiers winning eight of the last 10, and 8-10 overall against Nebraska who they haven't seen in dual competition since 2021. The Spartans were up 18-0 over Indiana in Bloomington last season but fell 23-18 when Indiana rattled off six straight victories to close out the dual.
The NCAA released its first set of coaches' rankings this week and they featured two Spartans. Remy Cotton received his highest ranking of the year at #18 and Max Vanadia made his first appearance at #33. Redshirt freshman Remy Cotton is enjoying a breakout campaign for the Spartans entering this week ranked #23 by FloWrestling and #25 by InterMat at 197 pounds. At heavyweight, redshirt Freshman Max Vanadia made his FloWrestling rankings debut at #33.
Michigan State has one of the younger rosters in the B1G this season, with 11 of the 17 wrestlers weighing in this week listed as a redshirt sophomore or younger.

First Look: #24 Indiana and #7 Nebraska
Indiana is 5-2 overall and 1-2 in B1G duals defeating Purdue last week, 25-11. The Hoosiers moved up one spot to #24 in the NWCA Rankings this week.
Michigan State is 52-27-3 all-time against IU and have won eight of the last 10 duals between the two. Indiana took down MSU 23-18 last season in Bloomington. The Spartans led 18-0 before the Hoosiers won six straight matches to finish the dual. Indiana has seven ranked wrestlers in their probable starting lineup, up from three in last years' meeting. The Hoosiers have a mix of young and old with four sixth-year grad students in the lineup and six redshirt sophomores or younger.
Nebraska is 6-2 overall and 1-1 in B1G duals taking out then #6 Minnesota on Jan. 11, 21-13 in Lincoln. The Cornhuskers remained the No. 7-ranked team in the country this week by the NWCA. Michigan State is 8-10 all-time against Nebraska but haven't competed in dual action against the Cornhuskers since Feb. 6, 2021, a 27-10 loss. MSU last defeated Nebraska on Jan. 18, 1998, 23-18. All 10 of Nebraska's projected starters are ranked, including eight in the Top 15, six in the Top 10 and two in the Top 5. Nebraska is an experienced team with six total All-American honors in the line-up. Caleb Smith, Ridge Lovett and Bubba Wilson are in their sixth season of collegiate wrestling and Brock Hardy is in his fifth.

Michigan State remains at home next week for a non-conference dual against Clarion on Sunday, February 2 at 1:00. Clarion is currently 1-8 overall in duals this season and has three road duals prior to arriving in East Lansing next weekend. MSU will honor its senior class against the Golden Eagles.
