Was looking at the AP top 5 finishes for the Big Ten teams over that past half a century+. One thing stood out, back to back top 5 finishes doesn't happen often.
Here's the list of the Big Ten teams with at least one stretch of consecutive top 5 finishes since 1950.
OSU - 6 (54-55, 68-70, 73-75-, 98-03, 05-07 and 09-10)
PSU - 4 (68-69, 77-78, 81-82 and 85-86)
Nebraska - 3 (70-72, 82-84 and 93-95)
MSU - 3 (51-53, 65-66 and 13-14)
um - 0 (had to throw that in there)
