In case you think he will get off easy, his is paying dearly in the court of public opinion, which is how these things are decided in most cases. This morning's Houston Chronichle has their lead article (not the sports page, the cover of the paper) that has this headline:

- Troubled Baylor player sentenced in sex assault"

There is a picture of the player, 1/2 page large.

In the sports section, the article is, "No moral high ground as Baylor bottom feeds". It is all over the news across our state, and Austin and Dallas are having a field day.

My point is this - the school officials are embarrassed by this, and will have to clamp down. But, I think they will have trouble getting kids with good character to consider the school (they already were struggling with this). There will conflict in Waco for a while, and they cannot afford another incident of any kind.

As far as I know, they haven't released the guy from the school yet. They announced a new investigation, by the head of their law department. I imagine he will help them decide to release the player, but will probably exonerate the coach from any guilt.

I think this could be like Iowa, where a coach has a good run, but then fades over time. At Iowa, their image went into the dumpster with a bunch of incidents, and they started losing recruiting battles that they used to win. Baylor is headed there, IMHO.
