OK, so MSU had a final 4 basketball team and a top 5 football team this school year. Fantastic, but no rings. So here is the question, would you rather MSU win a Big Ten championship in football and basketball, but have a season ending ranking lower than 10th, or the teams ending the season with top 10 rankings but no championships? Not talking about bowl wins here or a run in the NCAA tournament. I'm talking hardware and rings. Big Ten championships v very good seasons.
Personally, I'll take top five finish and the final four run, but twenty years from now, what will people be looking at? In basketball, winning four games in a tournament is somehow mystical, so there will still be those counting up the final fours MSU has made it to, but in football? I'm not so sure.
