It was a late night last at Spartan Stadium and the comments from Coach Tucker and the players were pretty brief. There was nothing shocking. I mean, the game really didn't go much differently than expected: the young offense struggled a bit and then gained their footing while the most experienced defense (playing against a one-dimensional offense) kept things afloat. That said, MSU did crank out some explosive plays.
The funniest exchange was when Coach Tucker was asked about the 4th-and-1 calls. Solari asked the question and Mel just looked annoyed and avoided the question. It may not be clear, but Mel did it in a very funny manner that got a pretty big laugh from the media. It was like "Come on guys... it's like 11 pm and we won tonight. Is this really something you want to get into in the final question of the night? Give me a break. It's been a long day."
You could read more into that than I think is needed. It was really just funny.
Here was another subtle point that I am not sure everyone caught. When speaking about Nathan Carter, Coach said:
"So, we just need to keep him healthy and he's going to be a very productive player for us."
So... does this mean that Carter is/was a little banged up? It sure sounds like it (not that Tucker ever mentions or talks about injuries.)
