Here is my second Courtney Hawkins story. Yesterday, I focused on player development. Today, went with the personality angle. When Harlon Barnett was recruiting the Flint Saginaw area, several high school coaches would remark about his willingness to give back to the high schools he was recruiting in terms of his insight in various areas. Cinci area HS coaches would say the same thing. Hawkins is going to have the same type of relationship with those area coaches. You might not have a guy, but I'm gonna be there with for.
Hawkins is a good person and Michigan State has a lot of those type of guys on staff from the Dantonio era through the present. Hawkins brings that enthusiasm of being in his first college job. He's an all-in kind of guy.
I've said it before, but what he did at Beecher was nothing short of amazing. I'm not sure if there's another administrator that did more with fewer resources.
