Watching him run his forty yard dash at the NFL combine.....first run was 4.7 and second run was 4.66.
What stood out to me....was his lack of quickness off the line. Was shocked by how slow he was getting off the line compared to other WR’s. There is no way he is going to create separation from an athletic NFL DB. I always thought that Cody was athletic and smooth. Watching him yesterday, he may have been the least athletic of all of the WR’s at the combine.
I always viewed him as being very similar to DPJ. Jones ran 4.57 and 4.48 forty and had a vertical that was one of the best for WR’s at the event. After watching both, I would never draft DPJ but, comparing Cody to him, it was pretty evident that DPJ was the better athlete.
Sadly, the NFL dream may have burst for Cody yesterday. Although forty times are overrated, quickness off the line or coming out of cuts is not.
