I posted earlier that Grayson Miller was on kickoff, and we also had him on punt coverage as well. I was impressed with him on punt, and it looks like he won't be redshirting since he's on at least two special teams. With Felton Davis getting snaps, those not redshirting will be Scott, Andrew Dowell, Grayson Miller, Felton Davis with the possibility that someone in the secondary earns time as well with Copeland being out for the year.
Shane Jones sure seems to be the backup MLB, despite what the depth chart says. Byron Bullough has been listed as the 2, but Shane Jones has been rotating in the past two weeks over Byron. And overall, he hasn't been doing poorly.
Based off the offensive line rotation, it appears that we like the combination with McGowan at guard and Clark at tackle much more than with Clark at guard and Machado at tackle. To me, I think that's more indicative that they trust Bennie more than Miguel. Overall I think we're in good shape when Kodi Kieler comes back since we'll have two players to rotate in who have significant snaps under their belt.
I know this wasn't a game where Montae Nicholson got to really show off his skills, but his pure athleticism and talent jumps out at me each time I watch him play. I don't want to get ahead of myself, but it's possible we have two All-Americans on defense next year with Nicholson and McDowell.
