I am not concerned about anything about this team except for two things that are interrelated. We have to be able to adjust our defensive schemes to better control the very good passing teams like Oregon, Baylor and Ohio State.
The long passes killed us last year. Over and over again.
I know we all love our blitzes and tight coverage by our CBs ... but man did it ever get eaten alive by those three teams last year. And if we don't make some changes scheme wise ... we will get torched again this year.
Here is my question: Why do we continue to take great risks against those teams when we have the ability to score at least 30 points a game? I really don't get it.
Here is what I hope happens this year. The Front Four plays like animals and puts pressure on QBs with minimal blitzing and that allows us to play more conservatively in the back end. We just can't let the slot WR run amok over and over again. IMO ... the passing game defense is more important than the running game defense against certain teams. I sure hope that we see some adjustments early this season. I'll be watching.
