MSU's athletic site lists the 2018 bye week as September 15th.

The above link has MSU scheduled to play Central Michigan on Sept 29th. Several other college sites have MSU vs. CMU playing on the 29th, but also shows CMU having a bye on 9/15.
If you look at CMU's official athletic site, they show the CMU at MSU game is now on 9/15.

That would open up a bye weekend for MSU on 9/29. Not perfect after four games, but better than after two.
