I'm as excited as anyone with our recruiting success and the highly ranked players we're bringing in. if MD's tenure has taught us anything it's that winning in recruiting and winning on the football field are different things. Teams like Tennessee and Michigan have killed us in terms of star rankings but haven't done anything on the field.
Now we're starting to bring in highly ranked players left and right, but this is different than the other fan bases claiming wins in 2017 and 2018. We have had the success on the field, the recruiting is starting to catch up with that. We have the coach who has done more with less (and evaluated better than anyone in the country), it's ok to get really excited to see what he does with higher ranked players.
my golf analogy is that MD was the guy with all of the game but didn't have great clubs, Michigan was the guy with the shiny new set and best technology but didn't put the work in. Now MD is combining the work ethic with the technology.
