It's a smart plan to (a) play a decent MAC team out of the gate and (b) do it on the road. The team will not be too comfortable by playing at home and the competition isn't so soft that nothing is learned for the coaches and players. I suspect MSU will be very ready for Oregon next week due to this smart scheduling plan.
I also think playing around the state at the directional schools can only help with recruiting and public opinion about MSU.
