I'm curious about Herb Adderley's omission from the LSJ top 50 all-time Spartans list (assuming he doesn't appear in the top 6, which I doubt). Can any Spartan historians comment on his impact while at MSU? I know he switched positions in the NFL, but he went on to have (arguably) the second best Spartan professional sports career after Magic. He had, I think, 4 Super Bowl appearances, 3 rings, 5 times all pro, 48 career interceptions, and a game clinching pick 6 in Super Bowl 2. Yet, his MSU stats as a RB don't really stand out.

Was it more of a Muhsin Muhammad type of situation (or someone similar) where he was solid at MSU, but not spectacular, and grew into greatness only at the next level? Maybe football was more defensive in the late 50s?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this.
