If Oregon and MSU both finish with 1 loss, and the selection committee only has one spot left, who would they take? I know there are a lot of factors to consider, but here is how I think it would play out:

I think if Oregon wins their conference title the committee still may pick them over us. This is assuming that OSU wins the Big 10. Here is my one caveat. If we play OSU really tough, I think we get the edge if we lose by 5 or less to Ohio State, but not if they beat us by more than a touchdown. None of us know what they think, but this is only a prediction. A lot of this depends on whether other conference winners have two losses, IMO.

I think they would say, they lost a very close game on the road their QB had only been there four weeks and they won their league. This is the one downside of winning in such a close game. Trust me, I'm elated, but I'm not sure we control our destiny vis-a-vis Oregon. We saw the committee had TCU over Baylor and it wasn't just the Minny win, but rather they didn't see a close home win as enough to conclude Baylor was better than TCU. The dreaded eye test

Now, we control our destiny over a 2 loss Oregon if they win the title and we have one loss, IMO.

The part that disturbs me, is that I honestly think if nothing was any different, but Michigan beat them 31-28 and each team had one loss, Michigan would get the nod, even if Oregon won their league.

Anyway, back to the original question: If Oregon and MSU both finish with 1 loss, and the selection committee only has one spot left, who would they take?

Thoughts?
