...I haven't gone back and looked and haven't been looking for it during games, but are we playing too soft, giving too much cushion to our opponents WRs in coverage? With Dennard and Wayne's we had them in press coverage and the wide receivers had to beat them, and even when they did the QBs had pretty small windows to fit the ball into if they were to complete the pass. Now we don't have a corner on the roster currently near the same caliber as Dennard and Waynes, and I understand not playing press and leaving these guys isolated. But are giving too much cushion? Seems like almost every completion is to a pretty wide open receiver and rarely in position to make a play on the ball or force the QB to be extremely accurate. Even when our DL gets pressure, forces the QB not to get much on the ball and it hangs in he air a while, it's getting to the receiver without our DBs within 5 yards. It almost looks easy to complete passes against us (we're 12th in the B1G in Pass Defense, 10th in Pass Defense Efficiency, 11th in First Downs Allowed, and 12th in Third Down Defense). Do we need to tighten the coverage and move the DBs up? Do we not have the talent? Is it scheme? Is it "eye discipline" (I believe that's what coach called it). I don't know and am asking those who know a hell more about it than I for their thoughts. All I know is we're making it seem easy to throw against us and I don't know how things have gotten to this place this quickly. Thoughts? Can it be corrected? How does it need to be corrected? Want to know your guys thoughts. Thanks!
