We currently have 7 recruits from Ohio, 5 from Illinois, 4 from Michigan, 1 from Indiana, 1 from NJ and 1 from DC. With the advent of Rutgers and Maryland to the Big Ten, you can make a case that all 19 of our recruits come from the Big Ten footprint.
Last year we had 50 percent (10 of our 20) of our recruits from outside the Big Ten footprint. We had 1 from Utah, 2 from Arizona, 1 from California, 3 from Texas, 1 from Virginia, 1 from Kentucky, 1 from Florida
Talent is talent, no matter where it is from. We have strung together what, by all accounts, are three straight strong classes, but the last two are very different geographically. There are advantages to keeping your local feeders happy and there are advantages to expanding your horizons.
