I wonder:
1. If Drake Martinez can give MSU the kind of blitz-er they lost in Ed Davis in 2015? Martinez has the speed that Davis has (and is probably faster), but, will he be as slippery?
2. If Michael Geiger will be the freshman version of himself or the sophomore one? Can he regain that consistency and deadly accuracy from 50 yards in he showed in 2013?
3. If Connor Cook has plateaued (at a high level) or whether he is still ascending? Can he stay healthy and run the ball more? Can he play like the first pick in the 2016 NFL Draft?
4. If Malik McDowell will have the kind of sophomore season that Shailique Calhoun had in 2013? Can he give MSU the kind of inside presence it hasn't had since Jerel Worthy? Can he exceed Worthy?
5. If Vayante Copeland is ready to show that sprinters speed and size he showed as a High School senior in Ohio? MSU needs him to become a consistent presence. Is he mentally strong enough to forget a bad play and not let it get him twice?
6. If MSU's OL is ready to take the next step as a unit and maul opponents? We will find this out in the first quarter of the Western Game. If this unit doesn't dominate that front, you will have to scratch your head.
7. If Calhoun and Lawrence Thomas shut down the outside on running plays and get to the QB consistently on pass plays? Name two more accomplished and talented DEs teammates at MSU in the past 40 years?
8. If Riley Bullough can really fill his brother's shoes (and jock strap, if you know what I mean)?
9. If the defensive backs can reclaim a little of that no fly zone swagger and performance?
10. If Aaron Burbridge can stay healthy and McGarratt Kings, Jr. can stay focused and give Cook open targets that can consistently catch the ball?
