Looks like we were in the lead for Vontae Davis prior to his commitment to Illinois. Another impressive job evaluating a slightly under the radar DB that has turned out to be a stud in the NFL, even prior to the Dantonio era. According to Rivals his only offers were from Maryland, Virginia, Illinois and MSU. Anyone insight @Matt Dorsey ?
Washington (D.C.) Dunbar defensive back Vontae Davis, the No. 1 prospect in the District of Columbia in the Rivals.com player rankings, is set to announce his big decision on Tuesday. Whatever he announces it will be the Big Ten.
Michigan State may have the edge.
"I've broken it down to two Big Ten schools," Davis said. "It's down to Michigan State and Illinois."
Davis made official visits to those two schools as well as Maryland and Virginia.
"I'm going to announce on Tuesday," Davis said. "I'll do it by 8:00 PM."
Davis may have tipped his hand a bit when asked if he has a leader.
"It's even," he said. "But I might like Michigan State a little better."
The 6-foot-0 and 185-pound Davis intercepted eight passes in leading his team to a 9-2 record during his senior season. Dunbar won the city championship.
