Fortin had or has an offer from Eastern Michigan, according to the Rivals.com database. However, he didn't sign with anyone on signing day.
He is 6-5, 230. If he was at MSU as an invited, expected guest, it's probably a safe assumption that there have been talks about the preferred walk-on program.
