It's the other yards lost as a result. The return to mid field nullified by the penalty. Obviously the punt inside the five that then ends up as a TO on the OR. ST 2 yard line. That's a 95 yard difference right there on a 5 yard penalty.
Michigan is lucking out - they have not played well but will win as OR. ST. has lost any momentum it had early and handed the game the scum.
