I was told Michigan State is in NO hurry to fill out the spots for 2017...Their are a few players that are obviously a top priority and those are names we know like Thomas, Hamler and Irving-Bey. With that said, space is limited for the final spots and I was told "the coaching carousel" is something the staff is watching. What that tells me is that their are some players that are committed elsewhere that the staff is keeping tabs on as they know that things will get crazy once the hiring/firing craze hits.
BTW, I have been keeping in contact with Scott Nelson of UD Jesuit. He has been keeping things pretty quiet as far a recruiting and told me he is still just focused on his original final 5. Which includes Wisc, PSU, MSU, Iowa and Northwestern. Keep in mind, MSU did not expect Dom Long to show up and blow everyone away at camp the way he did. Long was someone they could simply could not pass on. IMO that has slowed the process down at safety for MSU and with Nelson.
I have been told that MSU could look at another RB....If the right player is available.
