Ohio State cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs is the Buckeyes' lead recruiter for talent in the state of Michigan. He's had some success up here, and he's no shy about looking for more.

He tweeted this, earlier in the week:

Coombs is pursuing Donnie Corley and Donovan Peoples-Jones in Detroit, among others.

Peoples-Jones has been racking up offers.

I have to say that a few months ago there was a feeling in southeast Michigan and Peoples-Jones was from a UM family and would be a strong UM lean.

I interviewed Peoples-Jones briefly at RCS Cleveland and asked him just that. I said, 'There have been some who believe Michigan is going to be the team to beat for you, is that right?'

He said, 'No, I don't have any leaders.'

(That might have been a blunt question to ask, but the horn had blown and the players were supposed to run to a certain spot on the field to get instructions and I suddenly didn't have time to be more diplomatic and ease into the question. So I went right for it).

And you know what? I think he was telling the truth. I think that stuff about UM being the leader might have been the usual fool's maize that we hear at the outset of recruitments.

Peoples-Jones has been consistent in telling everyone that there is no leader and he's very serious about any school that offers him. He's serious about learning about the people recruiting him and building relationships. He says he's in hurry to decide.

So that recruitment could be an interesting one that lasts for another 12 months or more.

He plans to camp at Florida and USC in June. He might stop off at Tennessee and/or Alabama on his way to Florida.
