I just wanted to take few minutes to point out something that we've all been witnessing on this board and probably throughout the state (I'm not sure as I live in Arizona) that needs to change. We've all read and heard our on fans taking the "just keeping it real" approach to our team and our previous #2 ranking. To this group of glass half empty fans that we have, I challenge you to change your mindset from that of a fan who is afraid of having their team being exposed to one who not only welcomes but EXPECTS lofy challenges and expectations. When two separate groups of voters vote YOUR team as #2 in the country how can you say we don't deserve it? Do you have a vote? No. But those that do have a vote think we're deserving so who are we to argue.. I mean this is one of the greatest accomplishments in the history of the program - we were actually getting credit and recognition for something we might not have deserved as opposed to overachieving to get less than what we earned.. think about that for a second...

The proper response/reaction to your team becoming #2 in the country for the first time in 50 years is not to question if you deserve it, I'll get to that in a minute, but to go out and shout it in the streets and from the rooftops. When we hit #2 everyone of you should have gone out and bought a new Spartan shirt or hat, called up the Spartan Fund and gave $50 to the program, changed your license plate over to a MSU signature plate, posted about it on Facebook & Twitter, and put a Spartan flag on your car and home. People know of and complain about "The Big Blue Media Wall" that exist in Detroit when it comes to UM. You create that by taking advantage of times like this when our team is literally breaking program records EVERY week. When we make the noise the media will follow but around here on this board it's the opposite, the national media is a head of the fans when it comes to MSU football propaganda.

Now we all know that even the newest SpartanMag member knows more about MSU football than any national analyst, journalist, coach, or opposing teams' fans. Now with that said we need to take a look at what the national narrative is of our team and this program in general. We all know our defense has MAJOR holes, but they started our ESPN broadcast on Saturday with, "Are you ready to watch one of the best college football defenses in the land?" We know that Connor Cook and the offense has struggled but when I opened my ESPN The Magazine yesterday I was surprised to see his name first on a 4 man list of the "Top Quarterback Heisman Candidates." This particular write up was done after the 4th game - LOL! Then we have a good 4 or 5 page editorial ALL about our football team! It was really big and I'm shocked it wasn't featured on the cover but it was awesome nonetheless. My point is we know what we are but we need to have our fans back up these sentiments whenever in public - rational or not. Ask yourself this question, when have you ever met a rational UM, OSU, ALA, USC, ND fan? ;) Hell UM fans think they should be #6 in the country behind Utah right now! They are boisterous, proud, and more importantly LOUD in the praise of their program. You mix that with a team that the nation considers elite like ours and we start building our own "BIG GREEN WALL" brick by brick. Just a thought.. #GoGreen
