In light of MD's impressive 2-2 record against Urban Meyer's OSU teams, I thought it would be interesting to look at MD's overall record against all of the BIG competition to see if anything stood out:

Illinois 3-0
Indiana 8-0
Iowa 4-4
Maryland 2-0
Michigan 7-2
Minny 4-1
Nebraska 2-3
Northwestern 5-2
Ohio St 3-4
Penn St 4-2
Purdue 7-0
Rutgers 2-0
Wisconsin 4-3

Overall 55-21 (This includes 5 losses in his first season at MSU)

The things that jump out to me are:

1) The delicious 7-2 record against UM
2) The remarkably competitive 3-4 record against the national power OSU
3) The gift of playing the two teams from Indiana so often, to the tune of 15-0
4) Iowa is a pain in our a$$. (Nebraska and Wisconsin are annoyingly successful against us, but at least Nebraska has their elite tradition & home field advantage and Wisky has put a ton of players into the NFL.)
5) The clear evidence that MDs teams RARELY lose to teams they "shouldn't" lose to.

Btw, I'm as optimistic an MSU fan as you will find, but even I would've rolled my eyes if you told me when MD was hired that after 9 seasons he would be 33-3 against 6 BIG teams (UM, UI, IU, PU, MD, RU).

Thoughts?
