So the game last Saturday was a Sunday morning game for me. So I hit up a friend of mine who owns a bar/resto next door to his chat cafe. He let's me go into the back dining room(he said it was more quiet) and hook the laptop up to the tv via HDMI and connect to his chat cafe signal. Both of his business are closed to public, so I have the full signal strength and a nice 55" TV to watch it on.(my internet provider has problems with width at times, oh well).

I'm into the 2nd quarter when some dude from North Carolina comes to the bar. He knocks loudly so I can hear him in the back and then bothers the owner till the owner puts him with me. He says his bs and then asks if the Michigan game was good. I raise my eyebrows and told him I'm enjoying the MSU/Oregon game.

"Go Ducks" was his next words and I just shake my head and reply "I'm a Spartan." He then starts the blow hard walmart weasel shtick. I let it go and ask how he enjoyed the Utah game. Shut him up a little.

He kept doing the over the top cheering for Oregon and pestering me. I let it go. Even after the game I just give the "yeah, I know" type smile and pack up my laptop, hdmi cord, and walk out stopping by my friend on the way to thank him and leave.

Just 2 years ago, I would have gotten into heated debates with this fool. I would have just wanted to blister his hide with facts of how bad the weasels really are and how great the rise of MSU is. I would have gotten loud(not shouted, but louder than just talk). I would have wanted him to feel pain for all the junk I had to grow up with as a Spartan fan.

Not any more. I don't now and never will feel bad for a fool like that. They are hurting really, or too dumb to hurt(and if that's the case, no use even dealing with them). I just sorta let them make fools of themselves and move on.

On top of that. I never once felt the old "Here we go again" that was always in my mind during the SOS days. I'm not saying I had every confidence that we were going to win. But, I KNEW we were in the game and had a damn good chance of winning throughout the game. That's something else in me that changed.

It's a great time to be a Spartan.

p.s. My friend has banned that guy from his bar. He was just pestering my friend for tv control and then wanted him to hook the tv to a computer in his chat cafe so he could do what I was doing and just being an @ss while not offering any money or to buy any food or drinks. How do these people live with themselves. Oh well. GO STATE!!!
