Agent Shawn O'Gorman confirms to Spartans Illustrated that Michigan State will host his client, Auburn transfer wide receiver Ja'Varrius Johnson, for an official visit from April 25 through April 27. We have also confirmed this through Michigan State sources.
Pete Nakos was the first to report.
Johnson has recorded 64 career receptions for 1,114 yards and eight touchdowns in 35 career games played with the Tigers. He has also recorded 83 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
In 2023, he tallied 19 receptions for 347 yards (18.3 yards per catch) and three receiving touchdowns, in addition to one rushing touchdown.
Johnson was a three-star prospect out of Hewitt-Trussville High School in Alabama in the 2019 class and ranked as the No. 58 wide receiver in the cycle.
Johnson would enter his sixth and final year of eligibility in 2024.
As we reported previously, wide receiver was a position we expected the Spartans to target in the spring window, especially after parting ways with TJ Sheffield (who recently committed to UConn).
