According to the Staudt show, MSU will be sending Shilique Calhoun, Connor Cook and Jack Conklin to the Big Ten meetings in Chicago at the end of the month.
Calhoun and Cook will be returning to the event for a second straight year. Last year they were joined by Kurtis Drummond.
Last year, Calhoun held court and had people gaffawing over various comments. I'm sure he'll be well-dressed and entertaining again this year.
As for Cook, I'll be interested to see how many writers try to write the story angle about him being an underrated, under-recruited prospect coming out of high school.
He was ranked higher in Ohio than Frank Clark by Rivals.com. Did anyone ever write that story about Clark?
Cook was the No. 3 QB recruit in Ohio as a senior - behind Braxton Miller and Cardale Jones. So, although Cook has been outstanding, Ohio State had pretty good reason to take who they took and not pursue Cook.
Cook committed to MSU in the spring. If he had remained uncommitted, he would have attracted plenty of interest and had no trouble scheduling visits to five power conference schools.
So let's get this straight: He wasn't a 2-star recruit. He wasn't overlooked. MSU simply beat others to him with quick evaluation.
