I had a chance over the last two weeks to first do a story on new safeties coach James Adams and now to do a story on the second-year secondaries coach Blue Adams. They were naturally asked about each other and there was one interesting aspect that I found ironic. James Adams described "Adams and Adams Associates" as follows:
"I think what Coach Blue brings is a different type of energy," J. Adams said. "We're kind of a yin and yang, energy wise. Coach Blue from the door, boom, he's gonna hit you with some energy and make you get on your feet. I'm a little more 'slow release' … So, he starts you off in the front. I'll keep you going on the back end."
But the funny thing is that based on just the two interviews that I heard, Blue Adams seems the more chill and "slow release" while James Adams seemed energic. Then again, maybe Blue had already used up his energy earlier in the day. I dunno...
The item that most caught my attention this week was how much Blue Adams hinted at some schematic items. He talked a lot about playing more man coverage, and he talked a lot about stripping the blue and causing turnovers. I feel like Rossi's defense at Minnesota was good at forcing fumbles, but I am not sure. I am also not sure how much man versus zone MSU played last year. I would be interest on fact-check here from @glassman12
