Narduzzi was terrific on the sideline, I thought. And they played hard, tough, smart, disciplined.

Came back in the last minute to tie the game, converting two fourth downs on the way.

Then Pitt completed a pass or two, got to the 40. They got set to kick a field goal, and Pitt called time out right before the ball was snapped.

Iowa snapped it, kicked it, and the kick was about 5 yards short. But it didn't count because the time out was called prior to the kick.

So they timed out, got set, kicked it again, and this time Iowa made it. One of the best endings to a game in Kinnick Stadium history, I would think.

Pitt, by the way, had a deep man for a potential "kick six" scenario like Auburn vs Alabama.

But Iowa hit the field goal.

Darn.

Good for the Big Ten, but I couldn't help but root for Narduzzi, who treated us real well at SpartanMag for a long time.

The combo of Narduzzi and o-coordinator Jim Chaney looks like an excellent mix, to me. Chaney was among the forerunners of the spread offense at Purdue. But then it got kind of stale there, I think after he left.

Now, he runs SOME spread-formation stuff here and there. but they also do a lot of physical two-back. I think it's a good mix. Chaney has the spread background, and Narduzzi is having him buckle it down a little bit. Good mix.
