Didn't notice this live, the first time.

Second play of WMU's second drive. QB scrambled and kept it for little or no gain. (INT on the next play).

But on this play, WMU tried to run a crack-and-go vs Cox and Williamson. Nebraska ran this concept for a TD a year or two ago, against MSU.

The split end (Corey Davis, their stud), releases inside like he's stalking the safety for a crack block to spring Braverman on a bubble. But instead of carrying out the crack block, he fakes that block and releases deep.

Cox was right on it. He pressed, turned his hips and ran, broke down for the crack action, then stayed in phase and carried the coverage deep. Right on it.

QB saw that Cox didn't bite, and the QB had to scramble with nothing.

Excellent play by Cox.

(Nice two-step acceleration by Reschke on the other side, by the way, in chasing the QB. However, Reschke missed the shoe-string tackle. Gotta finish at the money. Nice acceleration, though. They can work with that.)
