As many know, Nike runs a series of camps around the country in the spring. The top performers are then invited to Oregon for what's called the Nike Opening Finals. This was held from July 7-10. The kids are tested in four drills: 40yd dash, shuttle, power ball toss, and vertical jump. There was also a team competition to evaluate their football skills.
Several Spartan commits and recruiting targets participated. Here is a brief rundown:
Panusiak - Played on the Defensive Team Champions, tested in the middle one third for his position DL.
DeWeaver - Did not test in all events,
D. Peoples-Jones - Scored the highest at the event in drills, one of seven juniors to be selected to attend.
J. Williams - Made the All Defensive Team, one of seven juniors to be selected to attend.
D. Hayes - Played for the Offensive Team champs (note all the six teams had O and D players), tested in the middle third.
E.J. Price - Tested in middle third for OLs.
L. Hill - Tested in middle third for DBs.
D.Corley - Tested in middle third for WRs.
LInked is a comprehensive summary of the event.
