No. 22 MSU Men’s Tennis Hits the Road for Third Consecutive Weekend Road Trip

Spartans look to build momentum in another away match-up.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – No. 22 Michigan State men's tennis heads west to Idaho to take on Boise State on Sunday Feb 9 at 1 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. MT.As the Spartans gear up for their trip to Idaho this weekend, they carry strong momentum following an impressive week of performances, having played three fellow Top 25 teams in each of the last three weekends. Several players have been honored with weekly awards, highlighting their standout contributions on the court.
ITA released their weekly rankings where Spartans saw changes within team, individual and doubles. The team dropped from No. 18 to No. 22, keeping their ranking in the top 25.
Junior Ozan Baris maintained his ranking at No. 8, while three other Spartans saw changes in their rankings. Redshirt-sophomore Aristotelis Thanos jumped from No. 27 to No. 19, senior Max Sheldon moved up to No. 61 from previously ranked No. 83 and freshman Matthew Forbes moved from No. 40 to No. 43.
The doubles duo Baris/Thanos made a huge jump, moving from No. 94 to No. 29.
Another award earned by the Spartans this week was Matthew Forbes being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week as announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Forbes made history for Michigan State, becoming the program's first-ever recipient of the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award after an outstanding performance in singles and doubles play. This spring was the first time that the B1G started presenting a Freshman of the Week accolade in addition to the weekly Player of the Week honors.
The team is looking forward to proving themselves after dropping matches against No. 19 Tennessee and Clemson this past weekend and showing that they deserve their rankings and awards.

Boise State kicks off the season with a strong 3-1 record, highlighted by a dominant 7-0 sweep over Eastern Washington on Fri, Jan 31.
The Broncos enter their matchup against the Spartans riding a three-match winning streak, determined to extend their dominance and keep the momentum alive this weekend. With strong performances in their recent outings, they aim to build on their success and secure another statement victory.
In the latest ITA rankings, Boise State's Jett Middleton earns a spot at No. 115, leading a determined squad eager to make its mark and climb the ranks this season.
