One thing I took away from Brad Lawing back in the day was that he believed that the RsSo season was the make or break year for most players. These are players that are 3 years in the program and if they are going to contribute they need to do it this year. I remember him saying this when we were discussing Lonnie Simmons. If you remember Simmons was beat out by Greg Yeaster and soon after he left Michigan State for Cincy, but I don't think he ever played there either. So who are some now or never guys?
RsSophs are players signed in the class of 2013. A few guys who need to make some noise or else it looks like they never will are:
-WR Trey Kilgore
-OL Devyn Salmon
-DB Justin Williams
LIke to see these guys develop to not only provide depth, but so they can also keep pace to get that MSU degree. If guys start getting passed on depth chart by younger guys that is when they decide to transfer. For example...
If Darrrell Stewart and Felton Davis move ahead of Kilgore the writing could be on the wall. Salmon will have to fend off guys like Higby and Stallworth. Williams has competition coming from guys like Gaines, Butler and Dowell.
Other 3rd year players like Reschke/Jones/Chmura and Finley are guys that look to already be in the mix it is just a matter of how high they go. The three above need to get in the mix.
