1). Seattle is a great city. Lots to do. Beautiful scenery. Everyone was friendly. Very nice stadium.
2) Five Husky students get a big round of applause from me. Right before the game the stadium camera showed five male students with their shirts off with each having a letter painted on their chests spelling out P E N I X. As soon as they were up on the big screen the last student turned his back to the camera. He had a S painted on his back. Very well executed.
3). UW picked on Kimbrough the whole game. I sure hope we have enough depth to minimize
his plays. He continues to get turned around like beer bottle in a strip poker game.
4) Brantley hobbled off the field in the last minute or two of the game. He was dragging a leg and looked to be in a lot of pain. They brought him in to the medical tent, which was the last I saw of him. He is a warrior and plays great in space but his rail thin. Physics are against him.
5) Thorne played his best game and gave us a chance.
6). The offensive play calling baffled me. The counter dive play to Broussard at our goal line was about as dumb as it gets. Their entire defense is within a yard of the line of scrimmage and we run a counter, which takes time to develop with a tiny runningback. They were stuffing the run in the middle of the field, how Johnson could call that play in that situation with that back with what had already happened in the game is curious.
How many two yard runs on first downs does it take to start throwing the ball?
Way too many two tight ends plays when we had long yardage downs, which was most of them.
Keon Coleman is a tough, talented player. Big things to come from him.
We need to spread the field and let Thorne operate in space. We were bunched into tight formations too many times yesterday. Wax on, wax off. Don’t bang your head against a wall doing things you would like to work but aren’t working.
7) There is too high a payroll on this staff to allow this inability to defend against the pass. Tucker needs to make a tough call or calls and fix this. No more course corrections. A new course is needed.
That one stung last night.
Go Green!
