I wonder if Coach D and staff are very direct with commits/potential commits from upper tier Ohio players. Do MSU coaches discuss with a recruit an existing or possible OSU offer and seek firm verbal assurances from the recruit that such an offer will not cause a change of heart? In other words, don't commit to Michigan State if you are unsure about your OSU offer. This seems consistent with Coach D's take-your-time-and-be-sure philosophy. If confronted directly with that caveat and an Ohio player commits to MSU (i.e., Cupp) with the assurance that an OSU offer will not alter their commitment, then trying out for the OSU coaches and seeking and OSU offer would constitute a breach of their word/commitment. Under such circumstances, retracting the MSU offer would seem more appropriate.
