The post about Justin Williams below made me want to share something I've been keeping track of. There were some questions/comments about how many recruits we'll take each year and this data may help put things in perspective a bit.

Since Dantonio was hired, he has had 4 recruiting classes that have completely exhausted their eligibility: 2007-2010. Here are numbers on what happened with each class:

2007: 61% completed their eligibility at MSU
2008: 43% completed (26% were removed from the team...Rather Hall...)
2009: 58% completed
2010: 62% completed (crazy note: 0% of the class transferred or were removed from the team)

So basically, the staff has been able to bank on about 60% of each class staying at MSU (and staying healthy) throughout their career. Some leave early for the NFL, some get injured, some transfer, some get kicked off the team, some just retire.

HAVING SAID THAT, the 2011 class is on pace to shatter the previous high of 62%. I count 13 players from that class still on the roster and on schedule to complete their eligibility at MSU. That puts the 2011 class at a 76% completion rate. What an unbelievable recruiting class. Those are the recruits who came to MSU after seeing only one 11-win season.
