when watching his pre-draft show with Kiper, he ripped on Nebraska's Randy Gregory for being poor against the run.

I didn't watch Gregory every single week. But I didn't think he was poor against the run prior to the MSU game. I thought he might have been questionable against the run. And MSU tested him. And I think one of the key developments that enabled Nebraska to make its comeback in that game was the way Gregory defeated TE blocks and took on the run in the fourth quarter. He was a plus player against the run vs MSU in the fourth quarter of that game.

Maybe Gregory is weak against the run on other occasions. I don't know. But I saw his capabilities vs the run in that game against MSU. He was solid, a difference-maker vs the run. I was surprised. Maybe Gruden didn't watch that part of Gregory's film. I'm sure he didn't.

He talked about Nebraska's problems stopping the run vs Wisconsin, and said Gregory was on the field for those 600-plus rushing yards. That's true. But that's also a weak indictment.

I would like to see Gruden sit down and go over Gregory's run defense at the point of attack vs MSU.

Also, in the TV show with Kiper, Gruden criticized the tall DE for Oregon, Armstead, for not being statistically productive enough. But I thought Armstead was a difference-maker this year when healthy. And the way Oregon plays him as a two-guy guy in a 3-4, he isn't really called upon to shoot gaps and rush the passer with a great take-off emphasis on every play. He's an occupy-two-blockers, hold-the-fort type of guy. And I thought he was excellent at it.

He was injured in the loss to Arizona. They missed him immensely in that game.

Gruden complained about Armstead spending too much time early in his career with basketball. But I think that's precisely why Armstead maintains a mammoth upside. He's just getting started.

Again, Gruden knows way more about football than I do, but I'm seriously questioning the amount of time he puts into his homework. And it's sounding to me like Gruden is taking on a shock jock type of approach to his career as a broadcaster. He has always been very opinionated as an in-game commentator, which I enjoy. He's great when the game is unfolding in front of him. And his "camp grudent" thing with the QBs is great, insightful, informative stuff too. But I think he's forcing some of his opinions in some of these areas.

I don't know every player in the draft. But I think Gregory, Waynes and Armstead are different. Good different.
Maybe Waynes will have a bit of trouble with short-area burst. But tackling? No problem there.
