A few young men paid a big price in terms of their draft position because of character or off the field issues but not as much as I expected. After the Ray Rice spousal abuse got so much attention last year and the NFL got so sullied from it I'm surprised Jamesis Winston was the first guy selected. I know everyone said TB was going to select him but in the end I was frankly hoping they would think better of it for lots of reasons including that little girl who complained. I don't know what happened that time but there have been so other times were he has misbehaved I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt. Then Frank "Notel Hotel" Clark was selected despite the photos of his battered girlfriend, why do the Seattle Seahawks need his baggage?
Gregory didn't spend too much time in the draft penalty box before Jerry Jones rescued him and if I understand it correctly Gregory will receive a 24 hour escort. Maybe Jones should get Gordon from Cleveland and the two guys can share a lets stay clean nanny. I just don't get why an NFL franchise would want to consider drafting a guy with history of abusing women. The NFL can't expect a roster of Kirk Cousins choirboys but if you've sent a woman to the ER you don't belong in the just got drafted column in my opinion. Football may be a barbaric sport but why draft barbarians when more disciplined players end up performing better over time? Maybe if the league is serious about weeding criminals out of the league they ought to institute a team penalty when a man on a team's roster beats up a lady. If it cost a couple of first round picks an incident the malefactors would vanish almost overnight.
