With the Wings and Tigers done, I've had MSU vs UM on in the background.
MSU led 3-2 in the middle innings. Then UM, which is ranked No. 4 in the nation, hit a pair of HRs - the second of which was the highest, farthest, most towering HR I've ever seen in a fastpitch softball game.
It's cold and rainy at the game, night game in ann arbor. Bad idea. But it's good TV. It has to be about 40 degrees with wind and cold. There might be a hundred people at the game, but it comes across on TV as being fast-paced, spirited, energetic, intense. The pitchers are working fast and throwing strikes, and people are hitting the ball hard, and the defense is making plays - both teams. Lots of yelling and hollering on the field, as is always the case with college softball, and it makes for a spirited broadcast.
MSU's defense on a bunt-and-run for a double play to end the fifth inning was tremendous.
I think it's in a rain delay now with MSU losing 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th.
