I have an interest in changing from stock silver to black wheels. I know my 3 options are purchase new, have a paint shop do it, or (ain't gonna happen) do it myself.

- Has anybody had their wheels painted? Can you share your experiences about satisfaction, cost, and complications. I am most interested in what type of business (body shop, paint shop, tire store, individual specialist) you have used or have experience with. Asking around at places I would have thought would do the work, I'm getting a lot of "sorry-we don't do that."

- Is there any reason to consider buying new wheels? Does resale of my current wheels (mine only have 2K miles) have any significant effect on reducing the cost. I would think not. Another question about buying new: Is there a big upgrade in quality that drives this decision? Does a paint-over require constant touch ups to keep it looking good (vs new wheels) ?

The look I want:
