The Texans offseason camp is over, and there is a nice article today that most of the news has been positive. Some of it focuses on veterans coming off injury, like Jadaveoan Clowney and Brian Cushing.

However, some of the article mentions some "surprises", and 3 of the 4 they highlighted are Spartans.

One area focused on the QB's. Last year, Ryan Fitzpatrick was the QB. Mallett was the backup, but he ventually replace Fitzpatrick. Mallett was re-signed, witht he intention of him winning the starting job (Fitz was released). Brian Hoyer was added for quality depth, but today's article named him the favorite to start. "Brian Hoyer moved seamlessly into a system he knew well from working with O'Brien for 3 years in New England. Watching him daily on the practice field, you could see almost daily improvement from him - confidence making calls at the line of scrimmage, mobility, accuracy and leadership. ...If you want an early prediction, I'm going with Hoyer" (Quotes by the author, John McClain, who is very plugged in.

On Bullough - "Two 2nd year defenders - Max Bullough and safety Andre Hal - have stood out for their consistency. they have figured out the system and should push for playing time"

On Mumphery - "A nice surprise has been the development of rookie receiver Keith Mumphery, a 5th round pick from Michigan State. He's 6-0, 215 pounds and faster than he showed in the draft when he rand a 4.5 40 yard dash. Mumphery has good hands, runs nice routes, and has the toughness coaches like for special teams. Keep an eye on him"
